I provide leadership and strategy to guide the Department of Arts & History’s community engagement, communication, and brand management services. Together with a talented team, I strive to deepen access to and support for Boise's history and cultural sectors by maximizing a variety of dynamic communications and people-centered platforms. These include communications plan development and execution, public engagement plan development and execution, brand management and marketing collateral development, advertising, social media strategy and management, copywriting and editing, PR and media relations, crisis communications, relationship management, and content planning. I also manage a team that oversees grants, education, and public programming.

I coordinate the outreach and education projects for the Boise City Dept. of Arts & History, which range from public education materials to new brochures and other identity pieces for department programs, special projects, and myriad public dedications for public art and other cultural infrastructure. I oversee the implementation of all electronic media (including website, newsletter, social media, press releases/email promotions) and serve as the media contact. I also help produce special events such as the Mayor’s Awards for Excellence in Arts & History and lead the Cultural Ambassador program.

Working in the Office of Community Engagement, responsible for the City of Boise and affiliated websites content creation and management.

Working in the Mayor's Office, support the LIV Boise branding and communication project (LIV stands for Lasting, Innovative, Vibrant) and work across all City departments to launch, manage and maintain the City’s use of the LIV brand.

Working with various clients on corporate identity issues, including: • Developing and writing compelling copy for company website/blog, newsletter, and other marketing collateral• Identifying industry-relevant media outlets for articles• Writing tailored articles to drive traffic and conversion

• Managed all aspects of corporate communications, including public and media relations, advertising and marketing• Responsible for all written communications, including electronic and print communications, contributions to publications, marketing materials, social media and website• Organized and participated in trade shows and conferences in Europe and in the United States, and coordinated web conferences

- Designed and regularly updated the organization's Strategic Communication Plan, including prioritizing goals, learning about and defining target audiences, and deciding which communications channels to use- Developed and carried out a Community Outreach Strategy, which increased membership from 30 to 700 members over four years- Designed and implemented the organization’s social media plan- Wrote, edited, and published print and online materials, including fliers, brochures, annual reports, press releases, op-editorials, e-newsletters, and website content- Promoted Salt Lake City and the State of Utah as a destination to American embassies abroad, the U.S. Department of State, and other Washington-based partners through effective public relations- Increased regional and national visibility of the organization’s mission, policies, and practices through effective media relations- Planned, promoted, organized, and facilitated 30+ community programs a year ranging from group meetings to lectures attracting, on average, 300 participants- Identified outreach opportunities and mutually beneficial partnerships within the community to increase visibility of the organization, develop collaboration, and strengthen attendance at community programs- Oversaw the organization’s internship program and mentored one student per semester- Regularly accepted speaking engagements.

- Designed, managed, and guided the communications strategy and media campaign for the Global Ties U.S.' 50th Anniversary Gala & Award Ceremony- Wrote and edited template press releases for Global Ties U.S.’ 93-member network- Secured regional media coverage of the event- Planned, promoted, and organized Global Ties U.S.’ Gala After-Party

Taught stand-alone 100-level French language classes.

While serving as a Graduate Intern in the World Affairs Council Global Classroom program, organized statewide teacher workshops and spearheaded the 2007 World Citizen Essay Contest.

Taught Introduction to Communications II, which introduces students to four core principles that undergird the study and practice of communication - communication literacy, research inquiry, theories and concepts, and community engagement. Principles discussed and developed in the context of social interaction, rhetoric and critical studies, and communication and culture.

Taught stand-alone 100 and 200-level French language classes.
