Jennifer Hendrixson White is a senior member of the Democratic Staff on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee where she serves as the principal advisor to the Chairman on matters relating to China, the Indo-Pacific region, Afghanistan and Pakistan, international economic policy, cyber security and emerging technologies. Jennifer previously served as a senior policy advisor to Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in her capacity as a member of President Biden’s national security cabinet. Based in Washington, Jennifer represented the U.S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN) in interagency policy discussions on a wide range of China, Indo-Pacific, Afghanistan and cyber and technology issues. Prior to USUN, she spent 6 years as a senior professional staff member for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where she advised the Chairman on matters relating to East Asia and the Pacific and institutional oversight of the State Department and USAID. Jennifer advised House Democrats on a number of Indo-Pacific issues and played a key role in House legislation on Asia, including bills related to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, North Korea, and Burma.Prior to joining the Committee, Jennifer was Coordinator of the U.S.-China Strategic & Economic Dialogue at the Department of State, and previously held policy positions related to a range of East Asian multilateral fora, including Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the East Asia Summit (EAS), and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). In addition, she supported the U.S. government’s efforts to bolster connectivity between India and Southeast Asia, and in 2012 served on detail to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and to U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii. Before joining government Jennifer worked on financial inclusion at the World Bank and lived and worked in China, Burma, and Thailand, where she managed programs related to development and human security.Jennifer graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in International Affairs and International Trade and Development, and holds an M.A. from Johns Hopkins SAIS with a triple concentration in China, Southeast Asia, and International Economics.
