Assistant Language Teacher
CurrentCurrently teaching in high schools of varying English skill levels. My lessons range from Eiken pre-2nd/2nd Grade preparation to textbook supplement lessons to cross-cultural activities. I often work together with the Japanese Teachers of English to prepare appropriate lessons to match their curriculum demands. During class periods when I am not teaching, I regularly edit students' English essays/worksheets and offer feedback for improvement. One of my schools is participating in the Global Classmates program and I am actively assisting the students with participation and organization of related activities. Previously I was placed in junior high/elementary schools. In junior high school classes, I was less involved with lesson planning and teaching, however I regularly engaged my students during class by doing warm-up activities and general language assistance throughout the class time. I also encouraged students to exchange "english diaries" with me so they can practice writing, and to create friendly bonds. The students would write voluntarily during their free time, pass the notebook to me in the teachers room, and I would edit their English, reply back, and return the notebook that day. In elementary school classes, I worked closely with the homeroom teachers to create fun activities while steadily moving through the textbook. We followed MEXT guidelines regarding the types of activities and timeline set for the year.
