Worked as a system integrator with specialties including HMI and PLC development, as well as network development to support the controls network systems.

My position here is a diverse one. I analyze the process for 5 kilns to determine areas for process improvement with the overall goal of increasing production of our high calcium and dolomitic lime products. This includes analyzing such areas as the baghouses, dust chambers, coolers, coal mills, and fans to ensure all are running optimally. I also help ascertain refractory needs along with internals required to keep the kilns running at their best.Along with this, I support the computers and network at Buffington, while also ensuring the PLCs and HMIs are running harmoniously. I am responsible for programming with respect to ControlLogix, SLC-500s, and PLC-5s using communications protocols such as DH+, remote I/O, and Ethernet, with a goal of moving towards a fully Ethernet system. The HMI package is currently Wonderware InTouch 10.1, with migration to 2012 R2 occurring now.

As a process control engineer, I have the opportunity to work on many types of projects. I most enjoy HMI projects and developing controls using various HMI packages. I create control systems using PLCs and HMIs that provide automation.

As a project engineer, I help to design and implement control systems utilizing PLCs (AllenBradley), HMIs (RSView/FactoryTalkView), and a DCS system (DeltaV). I also assist in the design/layout of electrical panels and installation/start-up on-site.

I am teaching MfET 474, which is a controls course dealing with analog sensors and how to use them in conjunction with a PLC (Allen Bradley).

Research Projects included high speed drilling on carbon fibre composite materials for Unimerco/Northrup Grumman, and radio frequency identification (rfid) for inventory control for Ingersol-Rand.My undergraduate degree was in Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technology (now known as Manufacturing Engineering Technology), and my Master's degree is a continuation of that degree. I also was a student teacher for MET 242, CIMT 244,and CIMT 342.

I sold books and assisted customers in finding books. I also participated in selling cards for the Preferred Reader program.
