Advocacy Services ManagerDomestic Abuse Women'S Network (Dawn) Oct 2018 - Jun 2021Kent, WaDAWN supports, empowers, and shelters survivors of domestic abuse in South King County, and helps to keep us all safe by educating our community to respond to and prevent violence. DAWN programs include a 24-hour advocacy and support hotline, emergency shelter, community/mobile advocacy, legal and immigration advocacy, TANF advocacy, children’s programming, support groups, and mental health services. During my time at DAWN, I supervised a large team of regular and on-call staff, interns, and volunteers in a variety of community-based and shelter advocacy positions, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. I initiated and participated in DAWN’s RSJ workgroup and committee to identify and hire an RSJ consultant to support the agency’s anti-racism work.I monitored and ensured compliance with advocacy contracts, reviewed forms based on program needs and funder requirements, coordinated with staff to ensure data integrity, and sought participant feedback to be more efficient and effective. To that end, I co-authored policy manual to align with contractual requirements and ensured smooth rollout and staff training of all policies and procedures.I managed relationships with partners across disciplines such as DSHS WorkFirst offices, Green River College, Highline Public Schools, Covington Police, King Co Prosecuting Attorney’s office, Eastside Legal Assistance Program, NW Immigrants’ Rights Project & Seattle Children’s Hospital. Financial Empowerment And Domestic Violence Training And Technical Assistance ProviderBy Contract Jan 2017 - Jul 2018I am available to provide training and technical assistance to agencies interested in integrating financial empowerment into the work they are doing with survivors of domestic violence. 2018 - I worked closely with New Beginnings to integrate financial empowerment into their Home Safe housing program. In January I provided a 4-hour workshop for staff to provide baseline financial knowledge. Throughout the spring I worked with leadership and advocates to develop financial assessments and tools for advocates to better identify financial needs of survivors and provide the necessary support throughout their time in the program. The tools were rolled out by staff in May and may be reviewed and refined as needed.2017 - I partnered with the Washington State Coalition Against DV and the YWCA Economic Resilience Initiative to offer full-day workshops to advocates in Federal Way and Ellensburg. This interactive workshop increased baseline financial knowledge of advocates, helped them identify ways to support survivors with their financial questions and needs, and connected advocates with existing financial empowerment resources for potential partnerships in their own communities.

Economic Resilience Initiative Program ManagerYwca Of Seattle, King County, Snohomish County Oct 2010 - Nov 2016Renton, WaI managed the Economic Resilience Initiative for 6 years, which provides a variety of financial empowerment programs to people who are low income, unemployed, currently or recently homeless, immigrants or refugees, or survivors of domestic violence across King County. Throughout my time with the ERI, we offered a variety of services, including financial education, individual financial coaching, subsidized secured credit card program, matched savings program, and partnerships with other agencies to offer training and technical assistance to their staff. I managed a staff of 4, with an annual budget of $160,000. For the first 4 years in the position, I provided direct services to clients (through classes and coaching), then transitioned into spending more time managing collaborations with partner agencies and offering the training and technical assistance components of the programs. At DSHS I developed and maintained family violence service plans for TANF parents, which include assistance with housing search, legal advocacy assistance, support group or children’s programs, counseling, medical appointments, and referrals to other community services and resources to help meet the families immediate and ongoing needs. I would clearly communicate with DSHS Case Workers regarding client status and need and maintained complete and accurate documentation in client files and through the DSHS E-Jas computer systemIn addition to my duties at the DSHS offices, I facilitated 3 weekly community-based support groups for survivors of domestic violence and 1 bi-weekly support group to survivors incarcerated in the King County Jail at the Maleng Regional Justice Center. I also co-developed and implemented curriculum for 10-week financial education class for dv survivors in English and Spanish, including co-facilitation, coordinating speakers, incentives for participants, and providing supports such as childcare, transportation, and food; completed applications and reports for funders.Part of my responsibilities included representing our program in the community. I actively participated in a variety of multi-disciplinary community task-forces and work-groups addressing issues of domestic violence and community accountability. I developed and maintained positive relationships with organizations, community members, and other service providers in order to coordinate services, make referrals, and provide resources. And I presented information on dv services and training about domestic violence in various settings to both large and small groups, professionals, and the general public. -
