The Director of University Events provides leadership for the staff within the Office of University Events and oversees responsibility for all University level events (I.e. Inauguration, Commencement, Christmas at DePaul). Works closely and in conjunction with the Office of the President, Academic Affairs and the Office of the Secretary, and is responsible for any other high level events as assigned by the University's President or Board of Trustees.

Produce, direct and manage all aspects for over 1,500 private events and 40 city events each year with budgets ranging from $75K to over $13MM and attendance upwards of 2.5 million. Events produced include annual events such as The Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Taste of Chicago and one-time events such as President Barack Obama’s Inauguration celebration and Chicago Blackhawks' Victory Parade. Report directly to Director of Special Events, who reports directly to City of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.•Lead workflow for 50 people and manage team of 3 directly responsible for delivering 1,500+ events including marathons, parades, festivals, markets, concerts and mayoral celebrations•Create visionary event ideas and execute against those ideas in an organized fashion for corporate and public clients including: Hilton, Disney, Red Bull, Nike, Chicago Tribune, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Shell Oil•Direct the city’s relationships with Chicago’s Championship professional sports teams: Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, Sox and Bears•Serve as spokesperson for City of Chicago live, on-air and in-studio interviews with local ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS affiliates and Comcast SportsNet

Managed 3-person team responsible for 100% of lakefront permits; over 3,600 lakefront permit applications annually. Collaborated with private event organizers and individuals including Men’s Health Magazine, Budweiser and Nike to host national events along Chicago’s famous lakefront that ranged from concerts and sporting events to photo shoots and weddings. •Spearheaded special facilities rental program for photo shoots, weddings, commercials and concerts•Optimized revenue of City’s facilities such as Garfield Park Conservatory and Promontory Point Park

Responsible for planning and execution of the City of Chicago’s 50+ annual parades including the nation’s largest Memorial Day Parade, Thanksgiving Day Parade, Gay Pride Parade and Bud Billiken Day Parade. Coordinated citywide events and operational plans to plan for the safety of nearly 500,000 parade attendees.
