It was the perfect fit. At that time, healthcare was transitioning from paper to electronic medical records. All my superpowers: organization, project planning, ability to influence others to embrace technology, and my “to the max” attitude, contributed to my success and led to a series of fulfilling and challenging progressive roles. 🦸Unstoppable.Fast forward several decades, I am now living my calling as a Vice President & Chief Information Officer. As a leader, I channel my passion to inspire people to live healthier lives by serving as a role model and participating in numerous fundraising 5Ks and half-marathons.🎤What We Need to Talk About #healthadvocacy: We need to meet with and educate our state and federal leaders on the health issues that are impacting peoples’ lives, and how their votes literally make the difference on access, affordability, privacy and other crucial issues.#healthcaredata: Technology has produced an explosion of electronic health data, and with it necessary privacy protection safeguards. Health data is the most powerful currency for change in our healthcare ecosystem, and we are still learning how to use it to create healthier communities. #healthliteracy: We have to ensure that when a patient leaves a healthcare appointment, they fully understand their health issues, and the importance of the prescribed follow up. I believe that when patients understand and engage in their health, they can better manage their care which leads to better health outcomes. #interoperability: Providing providers, patients and their caregivers access to connected health information is foundational to transforming health and healthcare. We must make healthcare technology interoperable, or connected, providing a patient and their “team” with access to this information for treatment and decision-making.#kindnessmatters: In a world where so many are disconnected and traumatized, being kind is the highest human act we can share with others. It’s a core value for me, and I practice it in all my interactions.
