I have recently graduated from the University of Calgary with an undergraduate degree in Communications and Media Studies.I have always known that I am highly organized and committed to excellence and this is most recently indicated by the fact that I have been able to remain on the Dean's List for all terms while continuing to work part-time and run a household. I'm also a strong communicator with excellent writing skills. In my third career change, I’m eager to use these skills and my experiences in a manner that allows me to feel fulfilled while at the same time adding value to the organization I am a part of.I used to be an esthetician and back then I loved it. I enjoyed spending time with people and having them share their secrets with me. As much as I derived pleasure from my interactions with our guests, the scope of my job didn't change much and I felt that I needed to learn something new.I began a second career working in the oil and gas industry. I loved it too. I liked the outdoors and working in different locations around the province. Different contracts meant a variety of work but, after more than a decade, the ups and downs of the industry were creating a great deal of stress. When the pandemic hit, I took the opportunity to pursue a degree. That's when it happened; the spark I was missing was ignited once I found my passion in exercising my critical thinking skills. I have now obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in communication and media studies and a minor in history. I also have a certificate in Canadian studies as well. When I'm not working or attending classes, I enjoy hiking as it helps me to maintain perspective on "the big picture" that is the world. I still read books printed on paper and enjoy the escape of literary fiction. I am obsessed with podcasts (particularly informative episodes with a comedic edge) and I like to journal, as it allows me to sort out my thoughts so that I can better understand what I truly think and believe. I love to travel and wish I could do more of it as I believe that new experiences keep perspectives fresh.Please feel free to contact me via LinkedIn.
