Global Ehs Compliance Manager, Re:Cycle Reverse Logistics
CurrentI manage the EHS Compliance team for this Amazon company that supports circular economy efforts for internal electronic equipment from AWS and beyond. Our team provides site level compliance support and permitting as well as strategic support for the overall business.
Global Waste And Circular Economy Program Manager, Aws
In this role, I provided technical expertise in the characterization, classification, and management of waste for AWS. This involved interfacing with several cross-functional teams, including: legal, health and safety, security, hardware engineering, sustainability, and others.
Managing Principal
In this role, I functioned as the Operations Manager for EHSI. I had Principal technical responsibilities for a variety of site investigation/remediation, hazardous building materials, and industrial hygiene projects. I also served on the executive leadership team for EHSI and our parent company, SoundEarth Strategies, Inc.
Senior Scientist And Group Manager
At Farallon I supported the investigation/remediation, due diligence, litigation support, and industrial compliance practice areas. My project portfolio at Farallon included: due diligence, industrial cleanup and compliance, shooting range remedial investigation and feasibility study, and mass excavations associated with property redevelopments. I also managed a team of scientists and engineers, aided with business development, and acted as the Washington Health and Safety Coordinator.
Senior Scientist And Group Manager - Assessment And Compliance
During my time with EWI, I oversaw a group of scientists and engineers who completed a variety of assessment and regulatory compliance activities for a myriad of clients. Our assessment work included Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, radon testing, air monitoring, and asbestos and lead-based paint inspections. Our compliance projects included regular RCRA and storm water inspections, environmental permitting (air, storm water, waste water and RCRA notifications), waste management, regulatory reporting, environmental compliance audits and audit data management, and the generation of training and management documents such as SPCC plans, SWPPPs and contingency plans. I had the pleasure of working on several challenging and exciting projects with great clients and co-workers during my time at EWI.
Senior Scientist
In this role, I was the project manager for ConocoPhillips' Westlake-Mercer Cleanup Project in the South Lake Union area of Seattle. This work involved a great deal of coordination with a variety of stakeholders, supervision of staff engineers and geologists, as well as responsibility for the technical and financial aspects of Stantec's portion of the project. I managed contracts with subcontractors, oversaw field work, ensured that our remediation system remained in compliance with Model Toxics Control Act regulations and our Puget Sound Clean Air Agency permit, oversaw a site-specific health and safety program, supervised the design of an extensive air sparge and soil vapor extraction system, generated an extensive soil sampling plan associated with a large on-site remedial excavation, and identified off-site sources of environmental impact previously attributed to my client. My research and documentation of this discovery allowed ConocoPhillips to approach this party for partial reimbursement of some of their remediation expenditures.
Project Manager
While in this position, I managed a large portfolio of EAOP (self-directed oversight program in California) and remediation sites for ConocoPhillips in Los Angeles County, California. This work included technical management of the site (planning and installation of remediation systems with related utilities, environmental compliance oversight, waste disposal coordination and oversight), cooperation with property owners and other stakeholders, working directly with the client to find solutions to their environmental business needs, managing the financial aspects of each project, and managing a group of geologists and engineers who helped to implement the field work. As an additional element of my work, I offered guidance to my fellow project managers on budget management and accounting issues. I continued to provide this guidance to Delta's ConocoPhillips project managers until my departure from Delta in December of 2007.In June of 2007 I was asked to join Delta’s team in San Jose, managing a small portfolio of projects and related staff for Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). I was brought into this role to provide opportunities for growth with the existing client and to expand our portfolio to include other non-petroleum clients throughout the state. This role also included the assignment of Regional Coordinator for Delta’s groundwater monitoring program with UPRR for the California region. This involved coordination and cooperation with several competing environmental consulting firms and insuring that our clients monitoring needs were met in a timely manner and with minimal interruption to the other work being performed by the consultants for those sites.
Staff Professional And Project Professional
My position with Delta in Chicago was in support of two large consent order programs for BP Products North America. My primary responsibilities involved technical project management of several challenging leaking UST sites, and direct support of the Unit Manager in tracking the program’s status and reporting this information to the our clients and the State Attorney General’s office. Other secondary opportunities afforded me during this time included pilot testing of new software which I used to streamline our work, and conducting a pilot study applying GIS and GPS technology to the management of environmental spatial and analytical data.Delta’s Chicago office was where I started learning the basics of field work, project management, and client management. I had the pleasure of working with an amazing team of people who helped me put these building blocks in place in order to form a solid foundation for my budding career as an environmental consultant. Many life-long friendships were formed in those trenches.
