Jen graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. For her graduate assistantship, Jen started a multi-disciplinary fall risk assessment clinic that provided screening and recommendations for older adults sustaining a previous fall. Her work was featured in the ECU Alliance magazine. After graduation, Jen worked as a PT for Duke Regional Hospital on all medical units - orthopedics, neurology, oncology, ICU, cardiac rehabilitation and general medicine/surgery. She contributes her vast amount of knowledge surrounding chronic diseases and effective management of those diseases to her time spent in acute care.Prior to leaving Duke, Jen became a Geriatric Certified Specialist and transitioned to Bayada Home Health in their Senior Living Division. In this role, Jen worked with older adults living in independent, assisted and memory care facilities educating caregivers on how to maximize safety and function and promote improved health and wellness. More recently, Jen was being asked to perform companion care services by her friends and neighbors taking care of their aging parents. It was then that Active At Home Senior Services was born. Jen has always had a natural affinity for older adults and is passionate about helping them and their families successfully age in place.
