The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) is a small-group, supplementary literacy intervention designed to help teachers provide powerful, daily, small-group instruction for the lowest achieving students at their grade level. Through systematically designed lessons and original, engaging leveled books, LLI supports learning in both reading and writing, helps students expand their knowledge of language and words and how they work. The goal of LLI is to bring students to grade level achievement in reading.

Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term intervention developed by Marie Clay. Reading Recovery provides one-to-one tutoring for low-achieving first graders. Reading Recovery teachers serve the students who are not catching on to the complex set of concepts that make reading and writing possible. Individual students receive a half-hour lesson each school day for 12 to 20 weeks with a specially trained Reading Recovery teacher. As soon as students can meet grade-level expectations and demonstrate that they can continue to work independently in the classroom, their lessons are discontinued, and new students begin individual instruction.

Literacy Lessons is an intervention designed to reach young children (generally Grades 1-4) in special education or ESL settings who are struggling with beginning reading and writing but are not eligible for Reading Recovery. Specialist teachers in these two settings are trained to use Reading Recovery instructional procedures to design individual lessons for their students with the goal of accelerating their literacy learning. The theoretical base and teaching procedures for Literacy Lessons were developed by Marie Clay, the internationally known researcher whose pioneering work in early literacy is the basis of Reading Recovery.

Resident Assistants promote and maintain a positive living environment for all residents. RAs fulfill the roles of peer advisor, role model, programmer, and administrator. They facilitate the personal, social, and academic development of residents. RAs communicate regularly with residents through informal contact, meetings, and bulletin boards and they coordinate and facilitate social and educational programs for residents. Resident Assistants understand, abide by, and enforce all College policies. They attend on-going staff development sessions and participate in all area meetings. RAs participate in a formal evaluation meeting each semester with an Area Director.
