As a senior strategist, led firm’s education practice, bringing a track record of success directing major accounts, such as Early Edge California, the Partnership for Children and Youth and the California PTA. Led trainings, developed messaging, drafted press releases, blogs and op-eds and executed media relations and social media campaigns. Contributed to business development, successfully expanding existing accounts, developing prospects, drafting business proposals and pitching clients. Highlights: With Early Edge California, oversaw the Save Kindergarten communications campaign, developing strategies that secured coverage integral to preserving transitional kindergarten for more than 125,000 four-year-old students in California. With the California PTA, facilitated dozens of communications trainings for parents across the state to help put education on the electoral map in 2012. With Charge Across Town, secured extensive broadcast coverage for launch of San Francisco’s first-ever EV Week to support the growth of the electric vehicle infrastructure to inspire people to move to fuel cell and electric vehicles.

Managed the day-to-day operations working closely with the candidate and consultants, with a focus on house parties, endorsements and fundraising. Organized over fifty events and helped exceed $150,000 fundraising goal.

Executed a series of seven month-long high-level consultancy projects during an intensive graduate-level leadership-training program in public affairs. Honed skills in public speaking, meeting facilitation, consensus building, negotiation and working with diverse teams. Selected Projects: San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and their Families: Conducted a cost-benefit analysis on proposed changes to San Francisco afterschool partnerships between school sites and community based organizations; interviewed thirty stakeholders and developed six school site case-studies.Education Pioneers: Developed strategic report to improve alumni engagement for a post-graduate educational fellowship program. Recommendations subsequently implemented.PG&E’S Solar and Customer Generation Division: Authored white paper examining unscrupulous business practices within the California residential solar industry and recommended potential responses. Additional placements included: the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office,the California Teacher’s Association, the Port of Oakland and Libby Schaaf for Oakland City Council.

Served as lead organizational spokesperson on youth policy; featured by a wide range of national media, including CNN, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Newsweek. Chaired youth policy team, responsible for developing the organization’s policies on drug education, youth treatment, student drug testing and social marketing campaigns. Authored seven opinion editorials, more than twenty letters to the editor and more than twenty press releases on youth drug prevention. Redesigned issue-specific website.

Co-authored Making Sense of Student Drug Testing: Why Educators Are Saying No; distributed 25,000 booklets. Organized opposition presence at 16 White House summits around the country promoting random student drug testing; quoted in over 100 media stories. Spoke at five national conferences on the topic, including the National School Boards Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.

Researched aspects of law, science and sociology impacting drug policy to support attorneys. Recruited national public health organizations as signatories for friend-of-the-court briefs.
