YoKid...Stretch Your Limits is a DC area-based non-profit organization that promotes yoga and mindfulness to children and youth to support enhanced outcomes for life, health, school, and leadership. Since 2004, YoKid has organized the National Kids Yoga Conference, a professional learning forum for educators, school administrators, yoga instructors, child and family service professionals and parents focused on bringing yoga, mindfulness and social emotional learning (SEL) strategies to the children and youth in their communities.

The mission of Yoga 4 Classrooms to transform educational environments through yoga-based wellness training and support. We empower students and educators to create positive, peaceful, productive classrooms that support exceptional learning and a lifetime of health and wellness.As a licensed trainer, Jennifer offers day-long professional development workshops appropriate for all K-12 classroom teachers, administrators, school counselors, phys ed teachers, health educators, therapists, paraprofessionals and other school professionals seeking to bring simple yoga and mindfulness techniques into the classroom or similar setting for a more peaceful, productive class day. Jen is most excited about helping entire schools implement the program and Yoga 4 Classrooms School. Y4C consists of four components for schools working synergistically to ensure program effectiveness and long-term sustainability: staff development workshop, classroom residency, parent education, and adult yoga classes for the school staff held on-site.

Provides writing, editing, and communications strategy and support for progressive organizations and causes. Projects include freelance article and blog writing for the National Wildlife Federation and Care2 Causes and website support for Heritage Preservation.

Teaches multiple adult hatha yoga and prenatal yoga classes each week for all levels of experience. Leads parent-child yoga classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers and a caregiver.

Jen brings a sense of joy and playfulness to her classes - both the adult and kids classes - and hopes to offer her students the sense of freedom she finds in yoga. Her weekly offerings include Itsy Bitsy Yoga and yoga for beginners, prenatal yoga, and all-levels classes in studios, community centers, private venues and schools in the Washington DC area. Jen is also a licensed Yoga 4 Classrooms trainer who teaches education professionals to incorporate yoga and mindfulness activities into the classroom day.

Directed media campaigns for the federal office of a national federation of environmental organizations. Worked with field and program staff to develop messages and strategies for outreach to news media at the state and national level. Pitched stories to television, newspapers, and radio reporters, on-line journalists and others. Organized DC press conferences and press briefings, including development of messages, press materials, visuals and press lists.

Developed and oversaw advocacy communications campaigns on multiple issues and in multiple forums: traditional news media, online and social media and our own print and web publications. Recruited and managed a team of staff and contractors that included media associates, web editors, strategists, and technicians, graphic designers, and a researcher/senior editor.Oversaw Food & Water Watch’s media presence and website during a critical period of growth and organized it’s highly successful online video contest. Wrote, edited, and oversaw media materials and communications collateral including press releases, fact sheets, reports, and web-content. Secured news coverage in the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and ABC News among others. Grew the department from a staff of one to seven full-time employees.

Provided program support for regional network advocating transportation investments, land use policies, and neighborhood designs that enhance existing communities and protect the environment. Coordinated efforts to develop a campus-wide coalition promoting curricular and co-curricular civic engagement and leadership. Researched existing programs and organized student and faculty focus groups to identify successes and gaps both in curricular and extra-curricular civic engagement & leadership offerings.

Secured television, print, and radio coverage on dozens of public interest issues from bank fees and consumer ripoffs to renewable energy and toxic pollution. Organized near-monthly press conferences on issues from environmental policy to product safety. Managed internal press strategy planning and press schedule. Drafted and edited press releases, fact sheets, pitch memos and background materials. Developed and maintained online newsroom.

Responsible for office management, computer troubleshooting, equipment and computer maintenance, conference and event organizing, intern recruitment, and financial management, taxes, and payroll for three corporations.Organized housing, social events, and logistics for up to 150 participants of semi-annual national meetings. Assisted in urgent campaign organizing leading up to key votes and decisions. Solicited thousands of dollars of in-kind donations for U.S. PIRG.
