About Jennifer Hyde
I am a dynamic public librarian/supervisor with a varied experiential, employment, and educational history that combines to create a unique skill set. With a history in teaching, innovative curriculum design, classroom management, as well as serving in a leadership capacity on many critical education committees such as budget committees, visual and performing arts committees at the district level, and even running the performing arts department and its budget, I also ran several on-campus clubs and was responsible for all their paperwork, meetings, finances, and more. Craving upward mobility and a challenge, still with the goal of a literate and digitally literate society, I pursued my MLIS degree. I became a librarian at the school at which I taught, assisting in developing the IB program for the campus, acquiring requisite materials, and then becoming an instruction/research librarian as well as a special collections librarian for IB and honors students. I moved from the school library to public librarianship, first as a librarian/branch manager in Riverside county and then as a Librarian/Library Supervisor in the city of Riverside. Both of these supervisory positions have given me a wealth of experience as a librarian in a variety of settings with very unique service populations and have only given me more motivation to continue moving upward in the field. It is my goal to use my varied and relevant experience to continue leading, innovating, and excelling when it comes to building twenty-first-century public libraries.
