I am a nurse practitioner educated to the highest level, with additional education in cognitive behavioral therapies, and psychopharmacology. I have earned certifications as a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional and as a Mindfulness Meditation teacher.My newest endeavor is joining Johns Hopkins University as a Fellow in their Master of Education in the Health Professions program. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *I graduated with honors as the first Maui resident to earn a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) through the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The program specialized in family nursing practice, with a focus on transcultural care for people of all ages in rural island populations. My first job was a health aide in high school, and it set me up for a career path that has included service to others in many different capacities. Prior to earning a doctorate, I worked in several different areas of healthcare, including writing physician notes as a scribe in the emergency department, and a registered nurse in pediatrics and telemetry at Maui Memorial. I feel that having held these different positions within healthcare allows me to have a unique perspective of the various stages of a patient’s health and wellbeing throughout the lifespan. My focus now is to use telemedicine to help people become a better version of themselves, through lifestyle adjustments, specific nutrition recommendations, lab analysis, annual physical exam, and mindfulness meditation.
