As a Director of Mental Health Care at IHPA, a new executive position within the organisation, I was responsible for leading the development of the new Australian Mental Health Care Classification (AMHCC).The AMHCC is a new, forward-thinking way of measuring mental health care provided to an individual based around measures of the individual's recovery goals and progress towards them, and will be implemented nationally from 2016. As the senior advisor to the NSW Minister for Mental Health, I drove the establishment of the NSW Mental Health Commission, introducing new legislation, new organisational structures, and with stakeholder support across a broad range of interests and political views. In a intense, fast paced environment, my team and I delivered the Legal Services Act 2007, on time, meeting Government objectives, to public support and the acclaim of a diverse range of stakeholders. Managing this large and complex piece of legislation from White Paper to Act of Parliament, I co-ordinated Parliamentary and Cabinet clearance processes and provided regular oral and written briefing to Ministers on policy, Parliamentary handling and stakeholder issues, including during Parliamentary debates and pre-legislative scrutiny.
