So, who am I?I am Jennifer Ong, a proud mother of three and an accidental entrepreneur becoming the Founder and CEO of HAPA Group after I lost my first husband leaving behind debts for me! An accidental entrepreneur with my late husband when we started the company in 1994 with our first magazine, Hospitality Asia leaving me with lots of debts as we had over-expanded too fast. I then managed the entire business clearing debts & rebuilding the publishing business. In 2002, thinking outside the box, I launched the HAPA Awards.Now you might be wondering what’s HAPA - So that’s a platform born in 1994 with one simple goal: We started off as a publishing house. Wanted to create trade publications (B2B) for the hospitality and retail industries and launched Hospitality Asia and Retail World Asia. We wanted to provide the two industries with a platform where buyers and sellers could get trade information specifically for the industry. There was none in Malaysia to elevate and innovate the hospitality, tourism, airline, hotels, and travel industries across Asia. For over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of watching this vision grow into something bigger than I ever imagined, through five distinct brands under the HAPA family: 🔥 Hospitality Asia (Media), 🔥 HAPA Awards (Awards), 🔥 HAPA Events (Events), 🔥 HAPA Academy (Training), and 🔥 No Address Society (Dining and Networking).But more than just titles and brands, my journey is about people.
