I used to be a typical Type A: ambitious, high-achieving, and constantly striving for more. After a 25+ year corporate career, I realized I needed a change. In 2020, I became a coach, and now my mission is to help other Type A's create a different kind of success story - one that feels as good on the inside as it looks on paper.Perhaps this sounds familiar? You’ve built a successful career, yet there's a nagging desire for 'something more' that isn't about a promotion or more money. I've been there. I often asked myself why I wasn't as happy as I thought 'should' be. It wasn't until burnout hit that I was forced to reconsider everything. And I learned, at least for me, that lasting fulfillment comes from balancing both my heart AND head. I learned to prioritize my own happiness over the viewpoints of others and relying on external validation.I coach others to do the same for themselves.A question to ponder:Are you as happy as you think you should be? Perhaps you have a role that others admire and aspire to, but does it fulfill you? If you've felt even a hint of, 'Is this really it?!', then you’re already asking the right questions.Choosing to make a shift doesn’t mean abandoning everything you’ve built. It starts by exploring who you really are and what brings you joy. As your coach, I’ll help you do just that. Together, we’ll create a personalized strategy to achieve a lighter, more satisfying life, and I’ll guide you through the mindset shifts that make it possible.Imagine how you might feel six months from now if you start this journey toward knowing yourself better....and aligning your career with your true values?____________________________________________________________________________________This could be a great fit for you if:You believe in personal accountability. You’re open to exploring new perspectives. You’re ready to focus on yourself and not just your to-do list. This might not be the right time for you if:Stress has completely overwhelmed you, and you feel there’s no way out.You see coaching as a 'last resort' rather than a proactive step toward genuine change._______________________________________________________________________________________If this resonates, let’s chat! Talent & Culture Leader, Integrated Supply & TradingBp Oct 2019 - Sep 2020London, England, GbAfter my Sabbatical, I returned as a direct report to the CEO of the supply & trading business, where I advised on culture challenges within the trading organization, leadership development suggestions, and talent design for building the trading workforce of the future. The project-oriented role was the perfect cap to my career in corporate, defining a next-generation trading culture combining profits and people. -
SabbaticalBp Jun 2019 - Sep 2019London, England, GbFeeling burnt out and dissatisfied, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take a four-month Sabbatical. I studied Buddhism, learned Transcendental Meditation, went trekking in Nepal, and volunteered with an NGO teaching English to women and children—such a fantastic experience and truly a catalyst to living a more deliberate and present life. -
Commercial Commodity Manager - European Light Ends TradingBp Oct 2018 - Jun 2019London, England, GbAfter the merger of the LPG/NGL trading team into the Light Ends desk, I oversaw the daily engagement of the combined Light Ends European trading team and operations. Activity included origination of new business activity, commercial leadership of the Light Ends team, and functional engagement and leadership of the strategic outlook. -
Head Of Lpg/Ngl TradingBp Feb 2017 - Sep 2018London, England, GbThe LPG teams in Singapore and London and the NGL team in Houston were global in name but not in culture. I was tasked with leading the disparate global group of propane, butane, ethane, and olefin traders into one cohesive team, aligning incentives, book structure, and new business activity. Ultimately, I proposed the business merge into the larger Light Ends trading desk (gasoline, naphtha, ethanol) to streamline systems and processes. -
Distillate Trading Manager - Global Oil AmericasBp Jan 2014 - Feb 2017London, England, GbAfter 18 months as the business liaison, I was encouraged to apply for an unexpected vacancy as the head of trading for diesel and jet fuel in the Americas. Having never traded, I was not a likely candidate for success. However, the Global Commodity Head in London was focused on filling the role with a strong leader first and a technical expert second. The team had a reputation for being challenging, and their performance was inconsistent. Over three years, I focused on building a culture led by character, connection, and commitment. The result was a restructured team built on a solid compliance foundation with a 'we-based' culture, resulting in significantly improved profitability. The team developed into a cohesive unit, leading to strong relationships with mid- and back-office functions. In early 2017, I was asked to lead a global trading team from London in a different commodity after the successful turnaround with the GDIST team in Chicago. -
Business Liaison - Global Oil AmericasBp 2012 - 2014London, England, GbI resigned from BP in 2011 due to burnout and frustration. I attributed it to the challenging employee engagement environment from the oil spill and move. However, after working as an HR consultant for a global telecommunications company for several months, I realized that it wasn't BP that was frustrating me but the field of HR. I was mentally and physically exhausted from fighting for people/employees in a field that revolved around protecting corporate liability over employees/people. Luckily, the Regional Business Leader at BP stayed in contact with me after I left, and when he had an opening on his team, he asked me to rejoin BP on the business side. I liaised between the front-office trading and origination groups and the mid- and back-office support functions to develop stronger relationships across the business. The role perfectly matched people and business, and I had found my niche. -
Hr Manager, Global Oil - AmericasBp 2007 - 2011London, England, GbInitially an HR Business Partner to the US oil trading division, I was promoted to HR Manager to lead a team supporting the 500+ employee base in the US oil trading business. The promotion coincided with the tragic Gulf Oil spill in April 2010 and an unpopular, large-scale office move from the suburbs to downtown Chicago. Employee engagement was at an all-time low, and mental well-being issues were at an all-time high, resulting in a challenging environment. Working with the Employee Assistance Program and business leadership, I developed and implemented a strategy to increase employee trust and engagement. -
Hr DirectorSpot Trading 2006 - 2007Chicago, Il, UsI was recruited to lead HR for a fast-growing proprietary trading firm. I created systems, processes, and a team to lead the organization through its next growth phase, from recruiting to employee relations, benefits, and compensation to training and development. -
Hr ManagerWilliam Blair & Company 2003 - 2006Chicago, Il, UsPreviously, the investment banking group had the autonomy to make hiring and bonus decisions with little input from the 'personnel' department. In 2003, the firm hired its first CHRO. The CEO asked me to move from the investment banking group, where I led the Analyst Program, to the newly formed HR department to support the CHRO building inroads with the banking group. Over the course of 3 years, I led the transition of recruiting, performance management, and compensation from the revenue centers (investment banking, investment management, and sales & trading) to a partnership approach with HR.During that time, I developed as an HR professional, earned SPHR certification, and had significant exposure to executive leadership and decision-making. My passion for people (development and leadership) came from this role. -
Investment Banking, Analyst Program ManagerWilliam Blair & Company 1999 - 2003Chicago, Il, UsAfter presenting at the William Blair Small-Cap Conference in 1999 for my previous employer, I was approached by the Head of Investment Banking to return to WB to manage the Investment Banking Analyst Program I had been part of previously. I intended to stay in the role part-time for two years until my children reached school age, but I found that I preferred leading people over managing numbers/finance and asked to remain in the role for 4 years. As a former analyst in the program, I understood the pros and cons of the historical structure of the program. Over four years, I built a formal training program for new analysts, expanded and formalized undergrad and business school recruiting initiatives, and implemented a generalist-to-specialist rotation program for analysts to develop broader exposure. I also looked after operations for the investment banking group. I implemented several cost savings initiatives, including new copier contracts, a new billing system for expense management, and a 24/5 third-party on-site presentation and creative services team. During this role, after the dot com bubble burst, I had to lay off employees for the first time in my career. Unfortunately, it was not the last... -
Financial AnalystAbacus Direct Corporation 1997 - 1999London, White City, GbAfter leaving the Analyst Program at William Blair, I was hired as the first direct report to the CFO of this newly-public market research organization. In addition to financial modeling for quarterly earnings results and budget forecasting, I supported the executive team in pitch meetings to sell the company to some of the biggest internet names in the industry. In 1999, Abacus Direct merged with DoubleClick in an all-stock transaction valued at $1.9b upon closing. -
Investment Banking AnalystWilliam Blair 1995 - 1997Chicago, Il, UsDue to off-season (recruiting) timing, I was fortunate to land a role in an investment banking analyst program. The mid-90s were the heyday of IPOs, and I was brought in with little training but a strong desire and work ethic. Immediately, I was placed on several live deals, immersed in supporting deal teams in mid-cap transactions. Although a generalist, I spent most of my time supporting the Consumer and Business Services groups. I worked on deal teams for IPOs, secondary offerings, private placements, and mergers & acquisitions.Over my two-year tenure, I was involved in 17 public equity offerings, including several transactions where WB was the lead book runner. -
Registered RepresentativeStrong Capital Management 1993 - 1995In my first job post-college, I worked for Strong's Registered Representatives training program. After attaining Series 7 and 63, I was placed in the retirement options planning group, where I sold 403(b)s, IRAs, and SEP-IRAs to small business owners.
