The agency brings a regional and interregional perspective to all areas of planning and resource management by fostering cooperation between municipalities, and encouraging collaboration between the public and private sectors. NMCOG promotes the interests of the local communities at the state and federal level, and often acts as a liaison between the municipalities and other levels of government.
