I've been a registered nurse since I graduated with my nursing diploma in 1990 from Red Deer College. I moved to Honolulu where I worked my first job in pediatric oncology. I have since travelled and worked all over the US and Canada as a traveling nurse, always in the pediatric field, and even worked for 2 years in Saudi Arabia. When I settled down after marriage and children I focused on pediatric and neonatal intensive care and somewhere in there I managed to get my BSN as well.Over the past 31 years as a nurse I have learned so much about the value of organization, adapting to new situations quickly and keeping an open mind. I realized very quickly that there are many ways to achieve a goal! I like to think that my experience of travel nursing and working in 3 different countries has taught me patience, listening skills and a firm realization that no matter where I'm working, no matter what language is being spoken, mothers and fathers love their children and want the best outcome for them.As well as practicing daily mindfulness and meditation, I'm currently working on my Masters Degree in Nursing-education and hoping that someday I can teach the same values I have learned to other nurses and students.
