Entrepreneurship and helping others have been in my blood since I was young. I started my first summer business at 15 and have been a serial entrepreneur ever since. In 2011 I quit my corporate HR job to open Eastside Family Counseling (now Eastside Couples Therapy). I have expanded my professional work into parent education, and coaching counseling and allied health businesses.I have over 20 years of experience as a mental health therapist creating safe space in which my clients can explore and pursue new possibilities. I specialize in working with couples using the Gottman Couples Therapy method. I have a collaborative coaching style which invites my clients to be the expert in their own experience, which improves their ability to choose the right solutions.I am also passionate about community-building; I have devoted a significant amount of time to building and supporting functional teams in my role as a leader with various volunteer and professional organizations. I am trained in mediation and conflict resolution, consensus-based decision making, and crisis response.I have been married for over 25 years, and am the proud mother of two daughters. I have volunteered with the PTSA at both the school and district PTSA Council level supporting the Parent Education Programs. I am also a cat foster parent with the Seattle Humane Society.

As marketing manager, I designed and implemented print and online marketing campaigns including a monthly newsletter for current and prospective parents.I also developed relationships with key stakeholders within the Lake Washington and North Shore School Districts to ensure expansion of our after-school enrichment program.As Teacher, I taught the complete Drama Kids curriculum, from Preschool to Acting Academy. I counseled employees and their immediate family members presenting with a wide array of personal, family, and work-related issues. Treatment involved conducting an initial assessment so that I could jointly set goals and establish a strategy in how to meet the goals, provide short-term counseling to facilitate their attainment of goals and, when appropriate, refer clients to community resources or other external resources as part of the established plan. Case management included facilitating client contact with external resources, liaising and advocating on client's behalf, as well as maintaining contact with the Regional Clinical Manager, and Clinical Services Administrators regarding EAP cases and related issues.

Within the context of a client centered care model and in accordance with the standards of professional practice and the established visions and values of the organization, I worked within a multi/interdisciplinary team and as part of a broader integrated system to deliver services to clients experiencing various levels of substance misuse and mental disorders. I provided independent substance abuse and mental health screening, and comprehensive assessments including DSM IV diagnosis; provided appropriate treatment/support including individual and group therapy, couples and family therapy, and education. I identified the client’s motivation and their stage in the treatment process, and encouraged ongoing engagement in treatment. Established and maintained non-judgmental therapeutic relationships with clients; collaborated and consulted with colleagues and other community resources; assisted with developing/providing education services as required; and participated in program sponsored interdisciplinary research. Participated in case conferences, team meetings, continuing education, and/or corporate initiatives and engaged in on-going team planning, development, evaluation and quality improvement activities.
