Class: Persuasion and Propaganda

As an SLI, I am responsible for facilitating an integrated reading curriculum (IRC) to 13 middle schoolers at Freedom Schools, a literacy-based summer enrichment program. Prior to the IRC, SLIs lead Harambee (morning pep rally) daily and help serve breakfast. SLIs are responsible for maintaining the classroom space and dynamic but most importantly, an SLI's main responsibility is to serve as a positive role model and mentor to all Freedom Schools scholars.

As one of the 45 students selected to attend the 25th Global Citizenship Seminar in Salzburg, Austria, I had the opportunity to broaden my understanding of the nature of globalization, appreciate the richness of humanity's diversity, and recognize critical global challenges. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, I learned to think globally and act locally to address critical issues and contribute to building a more equitable and sustainable world.
