Serving as a subject matter expert in blindness and visual impairment rehabilitation, I perform an active role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of blind rehabilitation programs that demonstrate best practices and services; create opportunities to educate Blind Rehabilitation Specialists and other professionals as well as the public about blindness and VHA Blind Rehabilitation Service (BRS) programs; and promote BRS within VHA and the local community. Additionally, I direct the WB VAMC Visual Impairment Services and provide direct rehabilitative care to patients with functional difficulties due to vision loss.

Serving as the subject matter expert on low vision, blindness and vision rehabilitation, I am responsible for directing the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center's Visual Impairment Services. I use a combination of professional, leadership and administrative skills to coordinate a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to deliver treatment plans for veterans who are blind or visually impaired.

Serving as the chief executive of the organization, I was responsible for the executive management of the corporation, including all administrative, fiscal, programmatic, development, personnel and operational aspects.Accomplishments• Developed and implemented new branding/marketing strategy• Redesigned website layout and content• Wrote and was awarded grants from private foundations• Planned and executed organization's first successful fundraising event• Partnered with ECAHEC to implement the first Youth Mental Health First Aid training program in NEPA• Increased organization’s visibility in the community

Serving as an integral member of the senior leadership team and the organization's expert in the field of blindness and visual impairment, I was responsible for leading and managing the Association's services and programs, as well as general operations.Responsibilities included: Evaluating, on an ongoing basis, services and programs being offered and developing new services and programs as needs emerge; Managing all budgeting, staffing, and operational aspects of services and programs; Managing general operations of the Association; Partnering with senior leadership team in developing and managing the Association's operating budget, policies, and procedures; Providing leadership in the Association's strategic planning processes; and Planning and implementing development and advancement initiatives.Accomplishments• Greatly expanded existing programs and developed a myriad of new programs growing services exponentially; and increased client base over 100%• Performed an integral role in the design of an ADA compliant, fully accessible facility• Created and implemented innovative programs including a low vision clinic, center-based vision rehabilitation therapy, instructional summer day camp, transition to higher education program, monthly adjustment to blindness group education, and fee-for-service programs• Wrote and was awarded countless proposals for funding from private/public foundations and grants• Completed a comprehensive accreditation process resulting in the maximum years accreditation from a national accreditation organization• Developed new marketing strategy for programs and services• Served as an integral member of website redesign team
