Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital

Worked on a pilot program for Social Learning for discharge-resistant patients. Helped to implement a token economy. Co-facilitated groups at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital (GPPH) including the following: Attention-Shaping Groups; Social and Independent Living Skills Modules; CBT for delusions and hallucinations, cognitive remediation, health and wellness, community re-entry readiness, groups derived from DBT such as interpersonal effectiveness and emotion regulation, goal setting groups; substance abuse; relapse-prevention planning; informal, leisure, and technical skills; stage of change/motivational enhancement strategies for substance abuse, medication compliance, and other problem behaviors. Provided extensive training to hospital staff to implement Social Learning principles. Conducted individual therapy sessions including CBT for PTSD and sub-clinical exposure to trauma, individualized CBT for delusions and hallucinations, motivational interviewing for substance abuse, medication compliance, and other problem behaviors, and conducted psychological assessments such as the SASSI, WIML, PANSS, and MINI.

Clinical supervision of hotline specialists offering caller screening, assessment, crisis intervention, support, and referrals for addictions.

Supervised and provided clinical supervision to staff and interns, prepared monthly and quarterly statistical reports for county and federal government funding sources, assisted in grant writing, linked severely and persistently mentally ill clients with/without co-occurring substance abuse disorders to counseling, inpatient rehabilitation, housing, financial entitlements, legal services, etc… to reduce reincarceration, worked with Probation to monitor probationers, accompanied clients to court proceedings, collaborated with Judges, Public Defenders, private attorneys, and Assistant Prosecutors to advocate for clients and ensured appropriate sentencing that addressed both mental health and substance abuse issues, provided emotional support and crisis intervention, visited clients at Morris County Correctional Facility and Ann Klein Forensic Center, provided discharge planning, created treatment plans, conducted home visits, conducted psychosocial intake assessments, and provided direct assistance with activities of daily living.

Supervised and provided clinical supervision to 9 full-time and 2 part-time staff, provided monthly visits to approximately 20 clients hospitalized at GPPH, provided emotional support and crisis intervention, attended treatment team and discharge team meetings at GPPH, assisted ICMS Director with interviewing potential staff, visiting clients at Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital, and various other tasks as needed.
