About Jenni Fuchs

Jenni has been working in the museum sector for over 15 years. Most recently, she was employed at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, as Social Media Manager. Prior to that she worked at National Museums Scotland for eight years in various capacities, as well as a freelance museum consultant, specialising in evaluation. Her areas of expertise include survey and questionnaire design, and she is an experienced conference speaker and workshop leader.Jenni holds an MA (Hons) in Scottish Ethnology & English Language from the University of Edinburgh, and an MA in Museum Studies with a focus on museum education from the University of Leicester. During her years training in the museum field she interned with National Museum Wales and the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.Since leaving formal education, Jenni has been continuously pursuing opportunities to further develop her professional skills and experience, both through her work and elsewhere. In December 2009, she was awarded her Associateship of the UK Museums Association (AMA), and later on completed a Certificate in Contemporary Science through the Open University distance learning programme.     Visitor Studies and Audience Research is a key part of National Museums Scotland's Learning & Programmes Department in looking at the needs and expectations of users and to improve the visitor experience. As Visitor Studies Officer, I was responsible for developing a programme of research into visitor learning through consultation and evaluation before, during and after exhibitions, gallery developments and other projects. I worked across departments and sites, and liaised closely with the Marketing and Communications Department on a museum-wide approach to visitor research and audience development.     Alongside my regular job as Visitor Studies/ Audience Research Officer, I spent one year on secondment working one day a week with the then newly created Digital Media Team.
