Being a former professional and collegiate tennis player, then communications professional, I have now come full circle and returned to my passions of fitness, health, and wellness. Currently a student physical therapist, I have aspirations of helping others move and feel better. I am specifically interested in working with female athletes and pre- and post-partum mothers, since often injuries and conditions experienced within these populations are often underserved and overlooked. Before starting the DTP program at Duke, I spent almost seven years primarily in-house in the interactive entertainment industry in a public relations / communications role, with my last position at an agency in downtown Raleigh. During this time, I worked on the launch of three triple-A video games, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and XCOM 2. For both Borderlands titles, I led the public relations campaign in the Americas and with XCOM 2, I was the communications lead in the Americas, overseeing both the public relations and social media campaign. During my transition to PT school, I began coaching CrossFit at Raleigh CrossFit and took on the Office Manager role at an outpatient orthopedic PT clinic, Chain Effect. This is where my decision to switch careers from marketing to health and wellness was confirmed and solidified as the best decision I could have ever made for myself. Specialties include: public relations strategy, media relations, media training, client relations, event and trade show planning, writing and editing, social media, marketing, project management, olympic weightlifting, CrossFit, functional training, strength and conditioning. Strengths include: organization, attention to detail, project prioritization, collaboration, effective and empathic communication, interpersonal skills, life learner, strong work ethic.
