Always happy to talk with those interested in building digital experiences that are accessible and usable by the over one billion people, globally, who have disabilities/impairments.I began my digital accessibility career in 2006 on the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) IT Accessibility Team, consulting across the organization on how to make digital experiences accessible and usable, in addition to building out their accessibility procurement process. I joined LinkedIn in 2013, where as part of our accessibility leadership, I am currently Head of Accessibility Engineering Evangelism.I began Accessibility Camp Toronto in 2011 and Accessibility Camp Bay Area in 2014; and co-founded the Boston Accessibility Unconference in 2010 and Accessibility Camp Los Angeles in 2012. In addition, I co-founded the annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) as well as the Toronto Accessibility and Inclusive Design Meetup in 2012, and founded the Bay Area Accessibility and Inclusive Design Meetup in 2014.Recognition of my professional, academic research, and community efforts include being:honoured by RBC and the Government of Canada with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, and by the American Foundation for the Blind with the 2018 Stephen Garff Marriott Award; as well asnamed in 2020 by Business Insider as "1 of 30 power players helping new CEO Ryan Roslansky run LinkedIn" and by Concordia University as a 2023 Benoît Pelland Alumnus of the Year for "demonstrated professional excellence, community leadership and a long-term commitment of outstanding service in their field."
