Contributed to provincial tourism goals by advancing the development of competitive destinations and products. Worked in travel media for four months.I was honoured to serve as the tourism liaison on a provincial government team responding to a devastating mill closure in rural Nova Scotia and proud to have co-authored Experience Nova Scotia: A Toolkit and developed associated curriculum that was used in workshops across the province.

As a team member of this dynamic organization, my role was to promote Nova Scotia internationally as a film location and provide client service to senior executives from companies such as Disney, Sony, and Warner Bros. In addition, I managed the Locations section, supervised two staff people, prepared business plans, annual reports, and marketing plans, represented the province at trade shows and sales events, administered a $275,000 federal-provincial funding program, wrote briefing notes and reports for the CEO and Board, and procured and managed supplier contracts.Two initiatives that I am most proud of having a role in were the improvement to client service that we achieved by adopting new technology which reduced our response time from three days to one and a new corporate brand that better reflected the identity of the agency.

I worked with an incredible volunteer Board of Directors to deliver several projects from a regional strategic plan. In addition, I managed association operations, provided administrative support to the board and several committees, supervised one staff person, and raised funds. In just over a year in this position, I supported the growth of a small committee into a non-profit organization by creating governance structures and recruiting more than 100 new members, raised over $100,000 to carry out projects, and initiated the construction of a visitor information centre with a budget of just over $350,000.
