I Teach Young Minds a Martial Art-Like Level of Skill and Mastery in Coding and Computer Programming. I am a purpose-driven Army veteran with a proven background in delivering results. Most recently, I have worked towards my goal of developing my skills as a Software Programmer. The ironic part about this story is as a young child anything related to the subjects of science or mathematics terrified me. They were two of my worst subjects and often the worst grades on my report cards. The fear of those subjects followed me throughout elementary, middle, high school, and I even would like to say college. It was not until I stumbled onto a really interesting video about coding and the lack of women in STEM that I researched a little more and decided to try a free class. Next thing, I knew I enrolled in a full-time Software Developer Program and my world was completely changed. The fears I'd developed as a child about math and science, literally steered me away from pursuing a STEM college major that I most likely would have excelled at.While my story is not the same for every child, I do believe that the experiences throughout the first years of exposure to STEM are vital to future development. That is why I am extremely passionate about having the opportunity to bring an Enrichment Program like CodeFu to the Augusta Area. Because I believe what we learn must be shared and it is my mission to share the Art of CodeFu.What is CodeFu?CodeFu (\kōd fǘ\): A martial art-like level of skill and mastery in Coding/Computer ProgrammingCodeFu is a Computer Science Enrichment and Immersion Program designed by former teachers and software engineers to provide TK - 8th grade with the option to learn Computer Science in the safety and comfort of their schools. Our curriculum goes beyond the introductory Coding Curriculum that Districts rely upon and teaches Coding to kids with the best Educational Coding resources available while combining it with National Common Core Standards from English to Mathematics.
