Serving my second term with AmeriCorps, working on building a sustainable Volunteer Program as well as working to promote volunteer retention and recognition for the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity ReStore.The ReStore is the retail operation for Richmond Habitat. The premise behind this model is that 100% of the proceeds that are made in our store go back into the mission of Habitat for building Affordable Housing in the Richmond Area. Working with a skeleton staffing model, volunteers play a crucial role in what we are trying to accomplish to build homes, communities, and hope in Richmond.

I had the unique experience of working with Habitat for Humanity for a year of service through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. I have several tasks that I am charged with completing before my year of service is up; each of the processes I put into place are of benefit for my organization and are for capacity building with in the organization. Each process has to be sustainable to the organization as well so that staff and volunteers can continue to use the processes that have been put into place after I leave.*Customization and implementation of Calyx Database - a mortgage software to streamline the mortgage closing process for new Habitat for Humanity homeowners.*Customization and implementation of CounselorMax Database - a housing counselor CRM database to help facilitate financial counseling for all of our clients, both homeowners and partner families.*Development and distribution of homeowner newsletter - when I started with the organization, there was no newsletter for the organization, I have developed a template, a means of distribution, and a schedule of topics to go with every quarterly newsletter.
