About Jenn Walton (She/Her)

Writer, editor, storyteller and freelancer based in Washington, D.C., and a writing coach at DIYMFA.com. I'm currently querying my first speculative novel project that explores, through the lens of a failing utopia, what happens when society gives in to its fear of the other. In the fall of 2016, I was one of 16 selected to participate in the Jenny McKean Moore Free Community Workshop at the George Washington University, entered my first flash fiction competition with NYC Midnight in late 2017, advancing to the third round, and in the fall of 2022, was long-listed for the Gotham Writers Publish A Book Scholarship. I've also been a member of an incredible writers group with three other wonderful writers since May of 2017.I've drafted and edited sponsored and organic content for top-tier academic institutions, Fortune 500 companies and leading philanthropic organizations that has run in The Washington Post, USA Today and the Atlantic. During my time at Subject Matter, I worked on two academic institution website launches, drafted major content for the president and CEO of a youth sports foundation, and regularly drafted profiles for an association's certification campaign.Profile photo credit: Josef Sullivan Photography
