This required:- Excellent behaviour management strategies - Leadership skills- Awareness of the complex challenges and experiences which excluded young people face- Programme management skills, including the management of all data and qualitative surveys, reporting externally on a quarterly basis.- Empathy, tough skin, and perseverance.100% of participants 'would recommend the programme to a friend'. Over a third of young people returned to mainstream education.Breaking BarriersBreaking Barriers develops the Life Skills of 14-19 year old's through rowing and mentoring. Students exited the programme with direct experience of the working world, better-equipped to reach their potential and, most importantly, with increased confidence. Managing the first two years of the pathway entailed:- Managing overall programme delivery for 80+ students, from recruitment to celebratory graduation - Training corporate volunteers to mentor students- Maintaining accurate data and tracking KPI’s in order to secure additional and return investment- Creating employability workshops with potential programme sponsors.
