This required:- Excellent behaviour management strategies - Leadership skills- Awareness of the complex challenges and experiences which excluded young people face- Programme management skills, including the management of all data and qualitative surveys, reporting externally on a quarterly basis.- Empathy, tough skin, and perseverance.100% of participants 'would recommend the programme to a friend'. Over a third of young people returned to mainstream education.Breaking BarriersBreaking Barriers develops the Life Skills of 14-19 year old's through rowing and mentoring. Students exited the programme with direct experience of the working world, better-equipped to reach their potential and, most importantly, with increased confidence. Managing the first two years of the pathway entailed:- Managing overall programme delivery for 80+ students, from recruitment to celebratory graduation - Training corporate volunteers to mentor students- Maintaining accurate data and tracking KPI’s in order to secure additional and return investment- Creating employability workshops with potential programme sponsors. Promoting Inclusion and Diversity, I supported SEND Schools across London to develop their sports provision, doubling the number of participants with disabilities reached by LYR and boosting the skill set of teaching staff.Highlights included multi-sports water festivals, engagement with ex-offenders in Brent, targeting NEET teenagers and working in partnership with Mind to promote physical activity as a way to improve wellbeing.

Young people were supported in gaining NOCN qualifications and returning to mainstream school or further education. I gained behaviour management techniques through working with an inspiring team- we made Skillz a positive place for young people to be.
