The NIHR is the largest funder of health and care research in the UK, funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. Working in partnership with the NHS, universities, local government, other research funders and the public. NIHR is also a major funder of applied health research in low and middle income countries. In this maternity cover role, I am leading on the delivery of NIHR's climate, health and sustainability commitments to:* reduce the environmental impact of NIHR central operations* fund research into climate, health and sustainability* ensure knowledge mobilisation of research across these areas to maximise impact* build capacity around environmental sustainability, climate and health in the research community

By inspiring students about their power and potential to shape a better world and connecting them to opportunities to make a difference during their time at University, the charity supports them to become civic leaders in their future lives and careers.

Management, coordination and development for an Oxford environmental charity and community hub; www.barrackslanegarden.org.uk, including delivery of Big Lottery Local Food programmes and the drafting of a five year strategy in conjunction with the board of trustees.

Management of the University’s environmental improvement programme and associated budgets, including leading the collaborative process to draft a University-wide carbon management strategy, implementation plan and successful bid for an investment envelope to support the work. Liaison with academic research departments, the student union, Oxford city stakeholders and other UK and international higher education bodies on joint environmental initiatives.

Joining the organisation as a Programme Officer supporting teacher and community nature projects, I was appointed to the post of Programme Manager in 2006 supporting citizen science, and to the international senior management team as Head of Engagement in 2008. Managing a department of 11, I oversaw 15 cross-sectoral programmes including partnerships with Barclays, Reed Elsevier, Diageo and Jaguar Land Rover, capacity-building for emerging conservationists and engagement programmes for young people
