I prepare chemicals and equipment to support the learning and teaching of staff and students at my school. I ensure that all chemicals are handled safely and equipment is available to staff when it is required. I communicate with staff and students to ensure that experiments run safely and smoothly and advise and test new methods and techniques.

I volunteer to assist teaching of jiu jitsu to local chidren and teenagers. I help ensure that techniques are being carried out safely and effectively, offering help where needed to students. I teach short segments of the class where the instructor requires it.

I synthesised and investigated the photophysical properties of organic charge transfer complexes working as a research student. My project lead to further work being carried out and a manuscript which was put forward for publication.

I investigated the dynamic magnetic susceptibility of a ferrofluid using Brownian dynamics simulations. Alongside this, I completed an Edinburgh Award (work experience) which encouraged me to reflect on the improvement of my independent learning and problem-solving skills during the internship.

I simulated the adsorption of greenhouse gases onto the surface of metal organic frameworks as part of a group project in my fourth year. We worked as a team to improve each other’s technical skills in Linux and Python and presented the results together at the end of the year.

I assisted customers with their orders in person and over the phone. I worked as part of a small cohesive team and supported my colleagues by organising orders and pressing laundry.

I researched, planned, and simulated the docking of drug candidates to SARS-CoV-2 as part of a student-led group project, the results of which we presented online at an annual symposium run by Edinburgh Scientific Researchers Association.
