Functional medicine looks for the root cause and treats the whole person; body, mind, & spirit. This includes stress management, exercise or movement, finding purpose & meaning, and nutrition. It's client centered, so after a lengthy consultation and lab work is complete, a functional medicine practitioner may diagnose and create a lifestyle prescription which will include suggested lifestyle changes, supplementation and/or other traditional medicine. As a health coach, I support the client in implementing these changes by asking questions that bring forth self-awareness & motivation so that the client can create a sustainable action plan to return to health. As a partner, the coach is available between doctor visits for information, guidance and reflection. Clients often need that extra, even subtle, assistance in creating lasting lifestyle changes.
