Developed therapeutic recreation program on a newly established inpatient rehabilitation unit. Ordered equipment to create a patient-centered program to benefit patients on unit including patients recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic injuries, and serious illnesses. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, select evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group, and patients' physical and emotional status. Identify community resources, research discharge resources, and develop discharge plans. Conduct assessments of individual patient needs and functioning, plan appropriate interventions, implement recreational therapy services, evaluate interventions, track progress, and document on wide variety of patients.

Performed clinical assessments, develop and implement therapeutic patient-centered recreation programs in a behavioral health and neurorehabilitation unit, provided therapeutic treatments and completed clinical documentation. Led a wide variety of interventions that include 1:1 and group sessions to treat patients’ needs. Supported research protocols and an active member of multi-disciplinary teams. Co-treated with speech, occupational, and physical therapy when required due to patient’s medical status. Researched and implemented innovative evidence-based rehabilitation interventions focused on the specific patient needs during and following neurological treatments and/or surgery.

Program manager for the wounded, ill and injured soldiers and their families related to Adaptive Reconditioning. Execute the Department of the Army Execution Orders to provide soldiers with a continuum of integrated care and services from point of injury, illness or disease to return to duty or transition from active duty. Serve as a team leader of administration for various members, including military, civilians and contractors, as well as assist and offer resolutions for team’s problems and discrepancies. Orchestrate tasks for numerous projects and programs, such as ensuring the program aligns with MEDCOM’s objectives and measures of effectiveness, oversight of complex international events and reporting data to higher headquarters. Responsible for the assisting, assigning and planning of initiatives for the Army Warrior in transition programs. Selected Contributions:♦ Oversee tasks and supervise day-to-day activities of ingoing and outgoing operational employees from various departments, including the Department of Defense, Army staff, MEDCOM and contracted subject matter experts. Research, analyze and participate in policy matters and issues in order to develop appropriate and effective adaptive reconditioning policies for the transition program. ♦ Collaborate directly with managers and other officials across the Department of Defense in order to present findings on program’s impacts and results, as well as formulate guidelines, procedures and processes to improve the program as a whole.

Directed the Marine Corps Warrior Adaptive Reconditioning Program. Served as the Director of the 2015 Department of Defense Warrior Games in Quantico, VA, which was comprised of six teams of 250 Wounded, Ill and Injured Service Members from all US military branches and the United Kingdom. Led all development and programming for the Warrior Games, including strategic planning, senior leadership briefings, coordinating site visits, implementing a budget, managing staff, securing contracts to hire 18 civilians, creating statements of work, and executing contracts of over $3 million in operations. Coordinated with multiple Non-Governmental Organizations for support in terms of $2 million in sponsorships and gifts to support the competing Service Members and their Families.Selected Contributions:♦ Was the Officer in Charge for the annual Marine Corps Trials from 2012-2015, which annually comprised of more than 350 athletes and 250 cadre, coaches, medical personnel and volunteers. ♦ Managed more than 300 contracted, military and Department of Defense personnel and over 1,000 volunteers for the Warrior Games, which took place over a span of 11 days. ♦ As the director of the program, planned and implemented adaptive sport programs, competitions and special events for more than 1,200 Wounded Marines and several thousand Veterans, which included partnering with Armed Forces Sports, CISM International Sports, British Royal Marines and Prince Harry’s Royal Foundation.

Planned, coordinated, developed and implemented special events and community programs for the Garrison Soldiers and the surrounding German community. Led the Garrison’s community recreation program, including management, budgeting, design, personnel hiring and facilitating the $700K renovation and grand opening of the Community Activities Center. Created concept design for new, innovative recreational facility. Led all initiatives, including briefing senior leadership, acquiring funding, getting approval for renovations, creating staffing template and hiring personnel. Was the liaison with the Garrison command to guarantee effective programs to meet the needs of Wounded Warriors and family members with special needs. Provided management oversight for community recreation operations, including staffing, facilities management, security, safety and occupational health programs, environmental health and property management.

Worked in a combat zone as a GS-15 equivalent on a six-month assignment to develop, coordinate, manage and execute entertainment tours in the largest Area of Operations in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Responsible for the meticulous preparation in writing mission orders to provide logistics for entertainers around the battlefield, including cross-coordination and partnerships between the different services and allied nations. Collaborated with nonprofits on missions included bringing injured Service Members back to where they were injured as part of their recuperation.

Led the Community Activities Division at a large installation, which included managing the recreation center, library, auto crafts, car wash, community events and BOSS program. Supervised and evaluated four managers, nineteen employees, four facilities, the BOSS program and all non-facility based programming. Researched and implemented new designs for a recreation center, three new outdoor playgrounds totaling $175,000, a $550,000 spray park, and a $125K playground specifically built for patrons with physical disabilities. The playground met all Boundless Certifications for Wounded Warriors and their families. Worked closely with managers to update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for facilities with the expanded services offered in the facilities. Followed guidelines set by the Americans with Disabilities Act and National Therapeutic Recreation Services to create new SOPs for the use of our programs and facilities to accommodate the Warriors in Transition Unit. Worked with the Special Olympics to bring a swim competition to Fort Sill.
