Supervisor for first year medical and veterinary students for the Biochemistry course (MIMS). I deliver weekly small group supervisions to help the students review and explore the lecture content through discussions and essays.

I worked with Drosophila melanogaster to investigate and compare the phenotype of lipid droplets in nerves of mutants (of ER shaping protein genes) with wild type through larvae dissection and confocal microscopy. I mentored one Year 12-13 student, doing weekly online meetings to best support her in her medical school applications: from UCAT/ BMAT advice and tutoring, to interview preparations and mock interviews, to personal statement writing. She received offers to study at Cambridge, UCL, St George’s and KCL.

As a new student society, I actively engaged in opportunities to get involved. I helped recruit medical students to the society, and increased awareness and understanding of medical law to medical students. I organised and hosted a speakers event in Nov 2021 over Zoom, featuring Dr Leslie Hamilton (former Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, now Assistant Coroner and chaired the GMC review for Gross Negligence Manslaughter), for which there were over 20 attendees.
