Following my graduation with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary in 2018, I embarked on a journey that led me to discover my passion for teaching and education. Recognizing the importance of fostering inclusive communities, I pursued an After Degree in Education, which I completed in 2020. Throughout my teaching career spanning diverse grade levels, I have honed my skills in online learning, educational technology, and innovative teaching methodologies.Driven by my dedication to creating environments where every individual feels valued and empowered, I actively engage in community initiatives aimed at promoting access to education. My commitment to community outreach is exemplified through my founding of the Heart of the City Piano Program Calgary (HCPP) in 2015. As the founder of HCPP, I advocate for the transformative power of education and equitable programs in building stronger communities.Inspired by my experiences in teaching and community involvement, I am eager to expand my impact within and beyond the classroom by contributing to community programs and initiatives. Founder And PresidentHeart Of The City Piano Program Calgary Sep 2015 - PresentI founded the Calgary program in 2015, after observing a growing barrier between children and youth who could afford music lessons and those who could not. Initially, our volunteer piano teachers were all from the University of Calgary and this has since expanded to all of Calgary. Our first partnership for student recruitment was with the Calgary Board of Education at Connaught School, a hub for newcomers to the country. We later expanded to University School, where many international families first settle as they study at the University of Calgary. Along the way, we forged partnerships with organizations like the CNIB Foundation, Discovery House, and the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society. Today, our program has brought musical experiences to over 100 children and youth and is continuously expanding. -
