Hello, my name is Jenny. I am the co-founder of Velo Domestique, Bournemouth's first cycle cafe. We encourage our growing community to get out on their bicycles, drink amazing coffee and eat delicious food. I have more than fifteen years of experience in marketing. Consumers now have the power. Understanding your market and communicating with them humanly and helpfully is vital to building trust and solving problems. I realised that there are a few problems in our world: x Reactive care: not spending enough time looking after our health and relying on the NHS.x Environmental issues: we prominently use our cars or public transport for short journeys and commuting to work. High levels of single-use plastics have a severe negative impact.x Poor mental health: social isolation and loneliness can affect us all. To do our bit and help combat these problems, we created a cycle cafe to: ☑️Preventative care: make cycling more accessible to people, regardless of their background or status. ☑️Environmental impact: encouraging people to switch their car for a bike. Introducing 100% renewable energy and biodegradables.☑️Improve mental health: building a community for people to feel connected. I understand that these issues are bigger than we are, but if we all do our bit with small, impactful actions, we can work together to improve our world - one day at a time. We serviced over 1,000 bikes last year and supported/organised over 40 bicycle rides and social events in 2019 to keep people rolling and feel more connected. My other passion, healthcare IT, is now taking some time out - I will always love the NHS and actively support people on the front line to work more efficiently and improve patient care through digital.
