I provide technical assistance to government agencies. My focus areas include the Endangered Karner Blue Butterfly, Running Buffalo Clover, and restoration of the Leading Creek Watershed.

Coordinate tree cutting crews and ODA perrsonnel to systematically remove ash trees within EAB quarantine areas. Collaborate with USDA and other agencies to prioritize sites and monitor the removal of infected wood. Work with landowners to obtain participants in the detection program. Record information in GPS units and download and process records.

Design and facilitate public ecology presentations to promote respect and stewardship of natural resources. Direct Eastern Bluebird Monitoring Program including; recording data, contacting volunteers, and presenting final analysis at Oak Openings Forum. Coordinate park district wide plant monitoring program to evaluate the health of plant populations and ecosystems by establishing schedule for monitoring, evaluating results and compiling data for submission to the Department of Natural Areas and Preserves.

Create innovative lessons that incorporate objectives of the Ohio Academic Content Standards through hands-on activities. Produce, schedule, and promote educational programs that allow students to investigate plant and animal species through class field trips and summer programs. Coordinate agencies including the Stranahan Arboretum, Girls Scouts, and COSI to offer history and science educational programs for elementary students. Design lessons and provide plant-based science education programs to teachers participating in the Plant Science Institute. Assist in planning of the Community Resource Workshop by contacting presenters and determining subjects to offer as available resources to teachers in the Toledo area.
