As Senior Manager, I lead member-oriented communication activities in print and online SOCMA publications, as well as special projects. I also work with SOCMA Department heads to oversee and develop print and online publications that promote a consistent SOCMA message and brand to members.

As Manager for Public Relations & Media, I contribute to the advancement of SOCMA’s strategic communications initiatives by providing editing, writing, press monitoring and event staffing support to the Public Relations and Media department. I also manage media inquires for all Association Management Services (AMS) groups and work with designated spokespeople to prepare them for interviews. And, I attend internal and external stakeholder meetings and serve as the primary lead for the e-newsletter and social media activities.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

As Assistant Manager for Public Relations & Media, I produce a bi-monthly newsletter that goes out to our membership, keeping them up to date with all the latest news and issues that are important to them, as well as alerting them about training, networking and educational opportunities SOCMA offers to assist them in succeeding in the custom, batch and specialty chemical industry. I also prepare daily press clips and assist in the development and editing of press releases. The PR Department helps promote all SOCMA meetings and events through e-Newsletter articles, press releases and social media. We work closely with SOCMA's Government Relations team to share news of our advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and work with various regulatory agencies with the media and membership. The same holds true our work with Membership and ChemStewards, SOCMA's environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) management program. Public Relations works with each SOCMA department to ensure that their efforts and news are shared with the appropriate audiences.

Wrote and edited project deliverables, fact sheets, final reports, business proposals, and other materials as needed; served as a member of the quality control team.

During my first years at the Greenwood Commonwealth, I managed a staff of six people, as well as free-lance writers and photographers. I was the primary designer of the newspaper's front page and edited all other pages before they were sent to press. I also wrote a weekly column, as well as other articles for special projects and the daily paper. I organized and helped plan three magazines each year, as well as an annual Profile Edition, among other special sections. I provided content for the newspaper's website. I served on the Board of Directors the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, where I was co-chair of the Leadership Tomorrow class and served twice as Chairman of the Community Pride Committee. I was the first female member and first female president of the Greenwood Kiwanis Club, and I was President of Business and Professional Women's Club, where I was named Woman of Achievement and received the Mentor Award in the state's Young Careerist Competition.
