Jenny is passionate to work in Urban Environmental Planning and Management regarding natural urban development in disinvested neighborhoods/marginalized communities as a way to protect environmental rights and support a holistic thriving ecosystem in Chicago. Strongly believing the relationship between marginalized communities and the environment can be mended, with collaboration with those affected, by adapting dated policies and transforming how natural spaces are integrated within neighborhood/community spaces.Focused on skills pertaining to Geographical Information Systems (Esri), community engagement, field ecology work, and outreach collaboration over her career from a Canisius College Research Team Member / Intern into a Community Sustainability Specialist at The Shedd Aquarium. As an undergraduate, Jenny focused one of her GIS projects within the same geographic area of a community garden she was coordinating at the time, helping to solidify the mission/purpose of the community gardens produce production within the neighborhood by proving the correlation of food apartheids and household income at below-poverty levels within the metropolitan threshold (Buffalo, NY). Now as a Community Sustainability Specialist she utilizes her networking skills within marginalized/disinvested communities to prompt genuine relationships and equitable partnerships in regards of the natural environment in the Chicagoland region. Further, continuing skills in GIS through work related map projects and personal interest in expanding her reach - direct message to get insight on more resource mapping projects created for community and beyond 🌾🌾
