As a Project Engineer for Weitz, I coordinate communication between the design team, owners, field workers, and subcontractors to ensure that the project is completed accurately and on time. My job duties change throughout the scope of a project and encompass creating and executing bid packages and subcontracts, reviewing shop drawings, tracking schedule, quality control, and closeout.

As an undergraduate teaching assistant, I graded weekly homework and lab reports, ran lab sessions when professor was absent, answered questions and provided feedback to students, and proctored exams for both the Introduction to Land Surveying and Land Surveying classes at Iowa State University.

The Student Role Model program is a group of around sixty young women in STEM fields who travel around Iowa giving presentations in K-12 classrooms to encourage interest in math- and science-based fields. As Student Role Model Assistant, it is my responsibility to compile all the supplies needed to preform presentations and activities in the classroom. I am in charge of organizing kits, keeping track of potential conflicts in supply use, and making sure that everything gets to the right person at the right time. Each week I send out between 5 and 20 kits which reached over 7,500 students in the 2013-2014 school year.

During my internship with Burns & McDonnell, I edited and compiled front end documents to be sent out in RFPs and addenda, organized and attended bid review meetings, contacted subcontractors for details prior to and during bidding process, and attended coordination and safety meetings in the field.

While interning with JCG, I spent a majority of my time scanning, uploading, and organizing acquisition and damage files into a new company database. I also assisted with field acquisition meetings, researched past easements at county courthouses, and reviewed easement acquisition files.

During my summer with the DOT, I assisted on several bridge replacements, concrete patching, the installation of high-tension steel guardrails. I gained certification to run air, slump, and unit weight tests on concrete, as well as test the density of soil and take aggregate samples.

As a Student Role Model, I traveled to K-12 classrooms around Iowa and presented science- and math-based activities. During each presentation, I also answered questions that students have about college and encouraged them to attend college. Special emphasis is put on interesting young women in STEM fields.

As a student assistant, I shelved and processed books, assisted patrons in the library and on the telephone, provided technical assistance, and helped organize the library's centennial celebration. I also wrote a feature-length article on the library's history that was published in the May/June issue of the Iowa History Journal as well as in the Knoxville Journal-Express.
