I am responsible for developing and supporting all efforts necessary to maintain a barrier-free library, responsive to the community’s needs for information, education, technology and recreation. As a Director, in addition to overseeing staff and handling the daily operations of the library, I work to establish the library as a community destination through public services and programming focused on equity and accessibility.I partner with the municipality and local organizations to identify community needs, securing funding to keep the library sustainable and identifying service trends and technology that is needed to stay relevant. I also develop library policies, manage the budget, fundraise, monitor collection development and use, oversee the physical facility, and serve as a community leader.

• Lead monthly instructional classes on eReaders focused on using Overdrive to download library materials. Created supplemental pamphlet, Downloading eBooks: A Quick Start Guide, for patrons to take home.• Provided reference, readers’ advisory and computer assistance at main information desk. Developed written materials on library resources and services.• Created marketing displays in adult areas in an effort to increase circulation of library materials.

Administration/Management• Developed, planned and implemented goals and objectives for system circulation services influenced by library trends and community needs.• Coached, advised and trained public services staff at all eight branches of system on patron interactions, basic reference service, reader’s advisory and circulation procedures. Lead resource for all questions related to the Horizon ILS, public catalog and eBook platforms.• Managed workflow, supervised and evaluated circulation department consisting of 35 public services staff rotating between three service desks.• Lead quarterly system-wide team meetings, for all public service assistants and pages, fostering collaboration, participation and education through activities and open discussions. • Participated in system-wide committees, including Marketing, Staff Enrichment, and Public Services Team.Operations/Technology• Designed reports using ILS reporting tool and SQL. Collected, reviewed and analyzed data for collection analysis and identification of library use patterns. • Public services liaison for ILS changes, enhancements and upgrades, including troubleshooting connectivity, and resolving functionality problems and issues in circulation and reporting modules. • Reviewed, researched and analyzed ILS and open-source systems for future migration, including speaking with vendors, participating in training and collaborating with other library systems for possible joint purchase.

Administration/Management• Hired, supervised and evaluated performance and workflow of 14 public service assistants and 11 pages in largest branch of library system. • Developed customer service guidelines and practices for circulation staff. Communicated system goals and policies to department through monthly meetings and training sessions.• Contributed content for continual training of staff on reader’s advisory, basic reference, circulation procedures and newly implemented library programs, such as eBook platforms, ILL and Summer Reading Club.• Reviewed and selected adult materials for library in genres including movies, music, graphic novels, fiction and mystery.Operations/Technology:• Created original content, instructions and FAQ sections for newly launched library website in areas of circulation, library policy and procedure.• Served as the circulation and customer service contact for public questions, complaints and issues via website, email or walk-in service.• Leader in the implementation, support and maintenance of all system self-service technology, including being primary contact for resolving all technical, connectivity and interface issues with Self-Checkout Stations, Self-Payment Center and RFID Security system.
