• Authored and annually updatde CSUN’s Emergency Operations Plan, which includes concept of operations, delegation of authority and emergency responsibilities, detailed threat assessments, hazard-specific response checklists, and EOC activation and operations procedures.• Administered eight mass notification systems to provide timely emergency information to the campus community population of approximately 60,000 students, staff, faculty and visitors.• Managed the University Emergency Operations Center, which included developing and administering training for 43 EOC positions, designing annual functional exercises, and maintaining EOC inventory for operational readiness.• Designed, planned, facilitated, and evaluated exercises and drills for CSUN EOC and departments. This included an evacuation drill for the Matadome and soccer field complex, a tabletop exercise for the Associated Students organization, a triage drill for the Student Health Center and both tabletop and functional EOC exercises.• Implemented innovative preparedness outreach strategies to reach the University’s faculty, students, and staff. This included a zombie preparedness scavenger hunt and an earthquake themed escape room which both received national awards for innovation in preparedness outreach.

• Lead a team of evaluators from 5 government agencies to author the After Action Report and Improvement Plan for Orange County’s first ever wildfire evacuation drill, which involved 10 organizations and 1,000 households.• Author 2014 Independence Day Fireworks Operational Plan and After Action Report, gathering and analyzing information from four OCFA departments, ten municipal fire departments, and 22 medical facilities to mitigate and evaluate the impact of firework hazards in Orange County communities.• Coordinate Emergency Operations Center liaison program for Community Risk Reduction personnel; including development of Standard Operating Procedures and administration of EOC training.• Plan, organize, and evaluate an 11-week Training Academy for new Fire Prevention Specialist Trainees, overseeing curriculum design and logistics for 20 lectures from 15 subject matter experts. • Serve as webmaster for the Ready, Set, Go! website to provide wildfire preparedness information and resources to residents throughout Orange County. • Perform qualitative analysis on response narratives and media articles of over 75 drowning incidents to summarize trends and contributing factors, creating a comprehensive drowning risk profile for Orange County.• Utilize formulaic queries linking two relational databases through Crystal Report software to produce weekly reports with high level progress summaries for over 12,000 annual fire code inspections.

•Coordinated 12 City departments to author an update to the City’s Master Emergency Plan and Earthquake Annex, which serve the City’s 4 million residents to ensure compliance to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Comprehensive Preparedness Guidelines as well as NIMS.•Supervised logistics, travel and presentations for 17 plenary and breakout session speakers for the annual two-day Los Angeles Emergency Management Workshop 2011, participants included 220 City and partner agency executives, assistant general managers and emergency managers.•Developed 9 comprehensive position specific checklists to be utilized by City staff from 4 different departments during an activation for the logistics section of the City’s Emergency Operations Center.•Formulated the Request For Qualifications and selection criteria for a Mega Contractor to provide numerous post disaster services to the City’s 4 million residents following a catastrophic disaster. .

•Responsible for an annual budget of $1.2 million and representation of 19,500 graduate students.•Led successful negotiations with Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Senior University Administration to establish a discounted public transportation program which serves over 16,600 graduate students annually; raised over $75,000 to support the program.•Directly supervised 10 staff directors and over 60 volunteer senators; chaired weekly executive meetings and oversaw academic, programming, and communications operations on two campuses. •Doubled student committee participation, quadrupled the number of visitors to the organization’s website and doubled scholarship money available for the annual graduate student poster symposium.•Prepared reports, gave presentations and advocated for all graduate student issues to the University Provost and Board of Trustees.

I studied hazards geography, focusing on preparedness and recovery. Tsunamis are my specialty, however I conducted a study of the recovery from the Station Fire of 2009 in Sunland-Tujunga, CA. I also co-authored a published paper using GIS tools to assess Hurricane Katrina recovery in New Orleans.

• Assisted with Redwood Coast Connect, a pilot project to assess the demand for broadband infrastructure expansion throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino and Trinity Counties • Utilized ArcMap 9.0 to digitized hard copy maps of existing broadband infrastructure, • Organized and facilitated seven focus groups and performed qualitative data analysis on these results• Tracked the project budget of $500,000• Prepared reports on various aspects of the project.

In this volunteer position, I provided assistance in finalizing the County of Humboldt's Hazard Mitigation Plan.

•Authored the City’s chapter to the Humboldt Operational Area Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), which included completing a natural hazards history, risk assessment, capability assessment and creating an action plan and represented the City of Arcata on the HMP Steering Committee as well as the Redwood Coast Tsunami Work Group. •Developed comprehensive guidelines for the City’s Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program to serve over 16,000 residents.•Utilized ArcMap 9.0 to create maps and perform analysis for the City’s Redevelopment Agency. •Served as staff liaison to the City’s Economic Development Committee.
