Having graduated with distinction from a fantastic MSc in Computer Science (Conversion) , I am eager to start my new career in the IT sector. Topics covered: Software Development and Databases The module enabled me to identify appropriate system requirements and normalisation. I created advanced queries using MySQL. The module included structured programming and object oriented and event-based methodologies utilising C#. Computer Networks and Cybersecurity This module introduced networking, including protocol fundamentals, TCP/IP. It provided an understanding of the key cyber threats and respective appropriate safeguards.HCI, Web and Mobile Development This module introduced database driven web development and the principles of HTML/CSS and JavaScript. Bootstrap was utilised for responsive layout and was applied to MCV with ASP.NET. I produced RESTful web API middleware using Entity Framework, SQL for the backend and ASP.NET MVC for the interface. Software Project Management This module helped develop skills in team working and managing a substantial project. A group project was undertaken, and I was appointed Project Manager by my team. Computational Problem Solving and Analysis This module introduced me to different models of computation, such as Turing and Finite State Machines, and how they can be effectively applied to solve real-world problems. The module introduced important factors in the operation of computer systems, such as hardware functions, binary, CPU at the register level, caching and instruction pipelining. enabling me to critically evaluate hardware and perform dimensioning estimations. Computer Science Workshop This module introduced me to different technologies through different experts in their fields. - Code optimisation for High Speed Computing using C - Big Data and non-relational databases (Neo4J) - Unity 3D Game Engine – using C# to create a game of asteroids.- Black-Box Optimisation – using Python to conduct Random and Evolutionary Searches.- Evolutionary Computation and Optimisation. Using Python to explore Multi-criteria decision making. Creating a heatmap to visualise multi-criteria data. For my thesis I researched the impact of Social Engineering scams on the self-employed community and developed a training package to educate this demographic on the risks and simple cybersecurity protections they can perform. This involved developing a website with an explainer video and an interactive quiz in JavaScript to re-enforce their understanding. There is a link to the video below.
