I managed a team of 9 professionals responsible for raising awareness and reducing the stigma of all forms of dementia. My team ensured that the voices of lived experience inform all aspects of our from government relations and policy analysis to delivering dementia education to health care professionals. We advocated for the adoption of a provincial dementia strategy to ensure that people living with dementia would have access to supportive services at each stage of the dementia journey. This included identifying legislative and policy changes necessary for an inclusive dementia strategy. I applied over 17 years of human resources experience to mentor and motivate a team to make a difference for people living with dementia and their care givers. I championed the introduction of a learning management system to allow our team to expand the audiences for dementia education. My team delivered dementia education to a wide-range of audiences including health care providers to support the delivery of optimal care. In addition to changing policy and promoting dementia inclusive spaces, our team was responsible for promoting people living with dementia as partners in research and ensuring research practices are ethical and dementia-friendly. I was privacy officer with the organization and responsible for compliance with lobbying legislation.
