The Special Education Aide assist the teacher in meeting the individualized needs of students with disabilities in the least restrictive educational setting appropriate to the student. She assists in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs. She works under the general supervision of the Principal and immediate direction of a certified special education teacher. She performs other duties as required and that are within her capabilities. This position may require some occasional work on Saturday’s, over the summer and some travel within the state of Texas.

Manage direct support staff including, but not limited to, staff evaluations, scheduling, conducting required staff trainingOversee residential budgetsMonitor fiscal, medical, personal and ISP documentation to ensure accuracy.Serve as an active member of each person’s Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT), which includes involvement in Individual Habilitation Plan development.

Work directly with people with physical disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into his/her communityCompletes documentation of necessary patient related information and maintains accurate information relating to the support of the persons served

Provide rehabilitative services to clients with mental impairmentsAssists in providing groups or direct services to patients utilizing the fundamental principles of social learning to include modeling, shaping, over-learning, reinforcement, extinction, and generalization.Completes documentation of necessary patient related information and maintains accurate information relating to the support of the persons served.

Teach swimming techniques for competitive swimming to children ages 8 through 17Organize and schedule practices and meetsPerform administrative duties including billing, entering and maintaining student information, and communicating with parents

Coach children ages 2 through 8 in soccerAssess children’s current developmental levels to help them build skills according to their ages and needs
