Here’s my story about how a Recruiter recruited me...As a lifelong list maker and color-coder (yes, my closet is color-coordinated) my love for all things organization kicked into high gear back in 7th grade when I got my first palm pilot. *swoon* Fast-forward to 2012, I was armed with a degree in Education but I kept finding myself landing jobs in program management and operations. During those days, I was consuming every productivity and personal development book, podcast, and blog I could find, always in search of the newer, better me and the next, best system. I leaned into G Suite and dabbled in the new productivity app of the month: evernote, minimalist, asana, tasks, notion, things, todolist, trello... always craving more, better, synced. I carried a self-awarded badge of honor for my superb calendaring skills. For those in the know, when coordinating between multiple CEO’s schedules it is a true miracle to find a time that works…. and then you have to make it stick. In 2017, I was feeling creatively depleted so I shifted my operational brain to another passion - cross stitch! - and started a business. TopKnot Stitcher Shop, a curated stitchy shop for needlework patterns and supplies, gave me the chance to execute to a whole new level of operational excellence, while also designing and creating. From my first sale via an Instagram comment to launching my website to vending at cross stitch events, I love getting to wear all the hats (actually... hats get in the way of the topknot 🤣) in my business. The days of quarantine brought a whole new generation of stitchers, new gaps in the market, and a rapidly evolving industry to explore. (My shop continues to evolve with today's crafting market and you can find the latest cross stitch releases & notions in stock now 🪡)And then... a Recruiter recruited me! When Keva Dine sold me on the idea of being a Recruiter & the Creative Operations Manager for her creative industry recruiting agency, I was amped to discover yet another way to combine my love of creativity and operations into one role. Team KDA is small and mighty and our days and inboxes are BUSY.
