I’m currently leading a technical team spearheading new product initiatives here at StashAway. I’m responsible for:- Leading and mentoring a lean engineering team in delivering timely products to market- Helping shape the technical architecture of our systems- Collaborating with product managers on key business features- Doing core implementation workOur tech stack right now includes: Node.js, MongoDB, Kafka, gRPC, GraphQL, React, Docker. It’s exciting times here though, so who knows what’s in store for us in the days ahead?

I led a cross-functional product engineering team working on Presto- an e-wallet and lifestyle super app. Under my leadership, we delivered the following milestones for Presto, among others:- Core e-wallet platform, QR and web payments framework- Pluggable mini app platform with key lifestyle partners- eKYC processing via OCR and face recognition- Team transformation towards a DevOps-centric processIn my dual capacities as a manager and tech lead, my key contributions are:- Collaborate with business users on product features.- Manage and drive the team to deliver product releases on schedule and at a high level of quality.- Set the technical direction and architecture of our engineering team and spearhead process improvement initiatives.- Grow and mentor the engineering team by conducting interviews, performing code reviews, and arranging periodic one-on-ones.Our tech stack for Presto: Microservices built on Java, Vert.x, Spring, MySQL, fronted by React-based web apps and native mobile apps.

I took on an expanded leadership and client-facing role as an assistant manager, which included requirements gathering and functional specifications drafting; team management, scheduling, and coordination- as well as still doing core technical design and hands-on implementation.My key achievements during this period are:- Delivered B2C and B2B e-commerce web apps for Sentosa Development Corp. and One Faber Group.- Delivered web payment gateway for Golden Village Cinemas.- Integrated with various payment providers (Cybersource, Wirecard) processing millions of dollars worth of transactions.- Mentored junior developers and performed code reviews.

As a senior engineer, I worked with business users and analysts to translate functional specifications to technical system & data design. I drove the design & implementation of (primarily) web-based applications in various projects for clients including Sentosa Development Corp. and One Faber Group. My key business domains were: e-commerce, ticketing, payments.In this role, I deepened my technical knowledge and experience in the following areas: modern web technologies, webservice design & architecture, payment gateway integration, performance optimisation (both web server and database). I was also tasked with researching new technology initiatives to improve our internal development processes.My standard technology stack included a modern front-end (KnockoutJS [MVVM]), served by backend REST API services (Java using Spring MVC, Hibernate), backed by an RDBMS (MySQL, SQL Server, with emphasis on performant SQL).

I joined Enovax as part of a very lean startup team focused on solutions delivery. I implemented several small-scale web applications focused on event ticketing and e-commerce.I specialised in full-stack web applications development using Java (Struts 2, Hibernate, SQL) and HTML+CSS+JS (jQuery, Bootstrap). Due to our small size, I had to juggle multiple roles and solo implementation projects, under the guidance of our chief architect. The learning curve was quite steep, but it enabled me to quickly gain a lot of experience from initial framework design to production deployment.

** I've taken an extended hiatus with my photography freelancing due to other priorities, but I'm still open to any collaborations. And of course, I still shoot on my own time. **In my spare time, I'm a freelance photographer specialising in music and arts events. I have covered both local and international concerts and festivals for a variety of media publications and organisations. I love shooting music and live shows. Notable events coverage include: Laneway Festival Singapore, Baybeats - Esplanade, Neon Lights Festival, Aliwal Urban Arts Festival. Notable clients include: Bandwagon Asia, Coconuts Singapore, Arts House Limited.

As a software engineer at Azeus, I helped in the implementation of several medium-to-large scale web-based systems for clients in the Hong Kong government sector. I had the opportunity to work on varied business domains: from procurement and contracts, to legislation management, to multimedia streaming.My core technical focus was in full-stack web development using Java, HTML+CSS+JS, and SQL. Due to the diverse nature of my project involvements, I was also able to gain experience with other technology areas, such as: mobile app development (Android), video streaming (Wowza), load testing (OpenSTA, Rational Robot), structured document markup (Adobe InDesign Server). Aside from hands-on development, I also had experience mentoring interns and performing peer code reviews.My time in Azeus provided me a good base of experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) using industry-standard processes (CMMI), which is useful in my present work.

In O&B, I interned as part of a team to help build a pilot web application project- part of the company's push to research and adopt new technology (Ruby on Rails). In the process, I gained initial real-world exposure to full-stack web applications development.
